Minnesota Tax Incidence 2015

The 2015 Minnesota Tax Incidence study is out. Since I last posted about this two years ago, not much has changed. Details below:

The overall effective tax rate is pretty much the same as it has been for over a decade, bouncing up and down a couple tenths of a percentage point:

By income decile, things haven’t changed much either. The richest 10% still have the lowest effective tax rate, even after the income rate hike passed into law by the Legislature:

One thing this report lets me do is check the accuracy of my own tax incidence, and it matches up pretty well.

All in all this is actually a pretty boring report since things have not changed substantially over a number of years, but it’s great that our state puts this kind of information out.
