You don\u2019t see that reported very often.<\/li>\n<li>Once again, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/business\/2012\/12\/30\/health-care-law-jobs\/1785641\/\" target=\"_blank\">more proof<\/a> that we need to disassociate health insurance coverage from employment entirely (a personal story along these lines will be posted later\u2026)<\/li>\n<li>As Kevin Drum correctly points out, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/kevin-drum\/2013\/01\/we-dont-have-spending-problem-we-have-aging-problem\" target=\"_blank\">we don\u2019t have a spending problem<\/a>. We have a revenue problem: Popular programs are popular and need to be paid for.<\/li>\n<li>John Kline <a href=\"http:\/\/minnesota.publicradio.org\/collections\/special\/columns\/polinaut\/archive\/2013\/01\/conservative_gr_5.shtml?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MPR_Polinaut+%28Polinaut%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader\" target=\"_blank\">didn\u2019t vote to raise taxes<\/a>. Everybody in Congress voted to cut taxes. The issue is that taxes weren\u2019t cut as much as some people like. Boo-hoo. See bullet #3.<\/li>\n<li>The debt ceiling vote gives a vocal extremist group in Congress the ability to say \u201cNice country you\u2019ve got there; it would be a shame if something happened to it.\u201d Get rid of it. Because otherwise, we\u2019ll be in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/wonkblog\/wp\/2013\/01\/02\/the-lesson-from-the-fiscal-cliff-deal-get-used-to-this\/?wprss=rss_ezra-klein\" target=\"_blank\">crises forever<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Happy New Year, America!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few random thoughts and links from the past couple weeks: Obama the Communist has presided over a shrinking of the government workforce.
